Where to Start With AI in Your Business: Pick 1 Boring Task
By Ferris Ahmad

Skip the big AI strategy deck. Pick 1 daily task your team already does, write down how it's done today, and grade the AI on it for 2 weeks.
Most owners ask where to start with AI and get handed a strategy deck. Start smaller. Pick 1 task your team does every day that nobody enjoys.
What makes a good first task
- It happens every day, so you see results in a week, not a quarter.
- It has a right answer you can check: a summary, a first reply, a description, a reorder list.
- A person already does it, so you have something to compare against.
- A mistake is cheap. A person signs off before anything goes out.
Good first picks: first replies to new inquiries, the morning numbers summary, product or vehicle descriptions, meeting notes into tasks.
Run it for 2 weeks
- Write down how the task is done today, step by step, and how long it takes.
- Give the AI the same inputs your person uses.
- Have your person review every output before it goes anywhere.
- Count 2 things: time saved and how often the output needed fixing.
- At 2 weeks, keep it, fix the instructions, or drop it.
What to skip at the start
Anything that touches money without a person signing off. Anything where nobody can tell a good answer from a bad one. And any tool that wants access to your whole system before it has proven itself on 1 task.
